It only costs $1 to cast your vote, though you must cast at least five votes, and it doesn’t matter whether you are registered Republican, Democrat, or Independent, but it will help if you love pets and books.
And don’t wait until November to vote: this contest for the most popular “literary pets” ends on August 31. Winning pet photos will be featured in the 2021 Nantucket Book Foundation’s Literary Pet Calendar.
This fun fundraiser featuring your furry and feathered friends benefits the Nantucket Book Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization founded to celebrate and promote the joys and rewards of reading, writing, and literacy. The organization endeavors to partner with other non-profits, publications, media, businesses, schools, underwriters and individuals to present an annual quality Nantucket Book Festival that honors national, regional, and local authors and the rich culture of the written word, ideas, and the imagination. The Foundation seeks to benefit the breadth of the community by hosting a variety of events, including author readings and presentations, panel discussions, book signings, workshops, writing competitions, school programs, gatherings, and conversations, as well as incorporating other allied arts and entertainment.
The first-place winner (photo with the most votes) will be featured on the cover of the 2021 calendar plus on the month of the photographer’s choice. The next 11 photos with the most votes will each be featured on the other months of the 12-month calendar.
Calendars will be available to order, and they make great holiday gifts!
The contest runs through August 31, 2020, and is a fun and easy way to get your friends and family involved in supporting the work of the Nantucket Book Foundation.
So far, 23 photos of literary pets have been entered and the contest has raised almost $7,000. Help support the Nantucket Book Foundation and their fabulous annual festival by voting early and often.
