Just like their whaling ancestors, Nantucketers live for the thrill of the hunt! This weekend, Saturday & Sunday, November 21 & 22, the
makes it easy. On an island famous for understated excess, this event is all about getting more for less instead of showing how much you can spend.
Every year on the weekend before Thanksgiving, there is only one place to see and be seen on all of Nantucket: this annual yard sale. What began as a small fundraiser for the Nantucket Lightship Basket Museum has become a community celebration of all things second hand; a living embodiment of the old adage “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.”
The cavernous greenhouse at Bartlett’s Farm, 33 Bartlett Farm Road will be filled with classic and modern furniture, clothing for men and women from high-end shops, knick-knacks, baskets, shoes, linens, and antique treasures for collectors of all kinds. Bartlett’s delicious baked goods and sandwiches provide great fuel for a morning or afternoon of shopping!
Nantucketers have known what it means to “be green” for centuries—recycling is second nature to us all! This event is a unique opportunity to purchase much needed household goods and clothing at reasonable prices. It is an event that brings the whole community together to support the museum; enabling the museum to preserve an important part of the island’s rich cultural heritage.
The Annual Yard Sale starts at 10 am on Saturday, with early bird shopping beginning at 9 AM for a $10 entry fee. The sale continues till 3 pm and opens again on Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm.
