The Saltmarsh Center is seeking nominations for 2022 Senior Citizens of the Year. The award recognizes the achievements and skills of seniors who go above and beyond to give back to our island community. Nominations will be accepted until 1 pm on Friday, April 29, and the Nantucket Council on Aging will select Nantucket’s senior citizens of the year, one male and one female, at their regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, May 4.
To be considered, candidates must be age 60 or older and enthusiastically involved in the community. Each nominee (one male & one female) must be a role model to his or her peers who is cheerfully willing to help others. See the nomination form for all qualifications. Nominees can’t be paid employees of the Senior Center, or Council on Aging, or Elder Services of the Cape and Islands. Email Laura Stewart with questions at lstewart@nantucket-ma.gov or call her at 508-228-4490.
Nominations are being accepted online. Any Nantucket resident of any age can submit nominations. The 2021 Senior Citizens of the Year were Ritch Leone and Joanne Polster.
