Nantucket by Design 2024 Speakers Announced for This July Event

Tickets go on sale April 16 for the Nantucket Historical Association’s (NHA) 9th annual Nantucket by Design, held July 15 to 18, 2024. The premiere fundraiser for this esteemed island organization has become popular for its notable featured guests, memorable conversations, festive gatherings, and dedication to design. Nantucket by Design 2024 will focus on the theme of “Craftsmanship.” The four-day event usually sells out quickly: tickets are available at nha.org.

Marla Sanford, Nantucket by Design 2024 co-chair, says, “We made a commitment to further elevate this year’s program, offering more calendar days and, in turn, more speaking engagements. Our headlining speakers set the tone, which is reinforced by the additional A-list luminaries that are joining us in celebrating the island’s creativity, culture, and commitment to craftsmanship.”

The keynote speaker for 2024 is Ken Fulk, an AD100 designer known for his whimsical and colorful style. Seven panel discussions during the event will have topics that include Nantucket Heritage in Modern Design, Creating with Color, Mixing Antiques and Vintage to Create Stylish Interiors, and Transformative Design.

One of the favorite sessions is always the Design Luncheon, held this year on Wednesday, July 17.  The luncheon will feature an engaging conversation between Mark D. Sikes and the iconic Aerin Lauder.  Sikes is an AD100 and Elle Decor A-List designer who has worked on projects throughout the United States and abroad, including the White House and Blair House. Lauder is the founder and Creative Director of @aerin, Style & Design Director of @esteelauder, and author of Entertaining Beautifully, Beauty at Home, and several other books. The moderator will be Stellene Volandes, editor-in-chief of Town & Country.

Participating speakers include Brian Sawyer, Darren Henault, David Kaihoi, Gary McBournie, Jesse Carrier, Joy Moyler, Keita Turner, Mara Miller, Mary McDonald, Meg Braff, Miles Redd, Victoria Hagan, and Young Huh among others. The full schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.

Bill Richards, Nantucket by Design 2024 co-chair, describes Nantucket by Design as an event that “not only illuminates Nantucket’s rich historical and design significance but also preserves it for future generations as one of the Nantucket Historical Association’s key fundraising events. We are thrilled to be joined by the incredible roster of design leaders, who lend their talent and voices in support of the NHA’s mission of commemorating Nantucket’s legacy while maintaining historic properties, programs, and collections for the enrichment of the island.”
