Artists Association of Nantucket Invites Applications for Hale Master of Fine Arts Residency

Artists who are currently enrolled in an MFA graduate program, or who are in the process of applying to graduate school, or who have graduated from such a program within the past five years are encouraged to apply for the Artists Association of Nantucket’s Hale Master of Fine Art Residency. These fully-funded month-long residencies are designed for artists whose work explores aesthetic beauty. The Hale MFA Residency provides space and time for artists selected to focus solely on their work. Hale Residencies take place only during the months of January, February, and March. There is no expectation to teach, exhibit, or present work, but artists are encouraged to exhibit and engage in our island community. Artists may exhibit throughout their residencies in the Champion Gallery at the Visual Arts Center at 24 Amelia Drive. This gallery is open to the public during business hours Monday through Friday.

The 2024 Hale Master of Fine Arts Residency program is now open for applications: the application deadline is Monday, November 6, 2023. This residency program was established in the winter of 2019 through generous funding from Charles and Kaaren Hale.

“AAN is honored to offer this fully funded residency and most grateful to the Hales for providing this amazing opportunity to MFA students,” says Tracey Sears, AAN’s interim executive director.

Applications should be sent to Elizabeth Buccino, director of education, at lizb@nantucketarts.org by Monday, November 6, 2023. To learn more about the Hale Master of Fine Arts Residency, visit the AAN website or call the Visual Arts Center at 508-228-0722.
