The fancy-schmancy bars may be closed down for the season, but some local watering holes are still welcoming in patrons like old friends. Here are four of our favorites.
1. Fifty-Six Union is their name (and location, actually) and drinks are their game. The bar is big enough to bring a group of friends and still find a seat for everyone, but intimate enough that you will be able to hear each other. To boot, their huge selection of wines (including their own private label pinot noir) will keep you busy all night, if that’s what you’re into.
2. Kitty Murtagh’s is the place to go if you’re falling prey to the winter blues. The corner-rich bar setup lends itself to interpersonal communication. Suffering from Early-Onset Hate Month? Go find yourself some new friends over foaming Guinness and glorious football games!
3. The Starlight’s bar is a little nook, so you can get as much of the bartender’s attention as you want. Despite being small, they somehow still manage to stock all the liquors you can think of. Kind people and heavy pourers stand behind that bar.
4. AK Diamond’s. Sit down at the wraparound bar and have Dave or Brian or Renee mix you up something delicious, or just throw back a couple of brewskies. They’ve got great beers on tap. And if you get hungry, the bartender can hook you up with some reasonably priced appetizers (by Nantucket standards).
Not feeling great? Head to one of these spots. Or to the doctor’s office, depending upon your particular ailment. Cheers!
