This Thursday, September 9, Nantucket’s own Theatre Workshop will share the humor of Neil Simon’s farce London Suite with island audiences.
This fast-paced play with crisp and witty dialog is truly a comedy of character. The four acts of Neil Simon’s third “Suite” are skillfully acted by Tim Booth, Cynthia Csabay, Jeremy Webb, James Lindberg, Casey Boukus, Mary Seidel, Sarah Fraunfelder, and Susan Lucier.
In “Settling Accounts,” a distraught writer confronts his thieving accountant at gunpoint.
The next vignette, “Going Home,” tells the adventures of an American widow reconnecting with her bookworm daughter during a trip abroad.
In “Diana and Sidney,” a famous talk show host reunites with her ex-husband, who needs money for his partner who is ill with cancer. Their reunion stirs up old feelings in this story about commitment and love.
The final act,“The Man on the Floor,” is quintessential Neil Simon. A couple flies to London to go to Wimbledon, but they lose their tickets. A frantic search for the tickets ensues with additional comedic complications.
London Suite will be performed Wednesday through Saturday through September 25 with a 7 pm curtain time. A 3 pm matinee will be performed on Sunday, September 12. Tickets can be reserved by calling the TWN Box Office at 508-228-4305 or by visiting TheatreNantucket.org.
