While you’re busy enjoying the cool, clear ocean water this week, the Nantucket Historical Association (NHA) will be swimming in activity! Think Baroque chamber music dancing alongside the unveiling of a newly donated and restored 1925 Steinway baby grand model “L” piano, kicked off by a rendezvous with renowned interior designer Bunny Williams.
Thursday July 12, Great Harbor Yacht Club at 12 noon:
Come enjoy a luncheon and an auction with renowned NYC interior designer Bunny Williams. A special July preview and benefit of the 35th Annual August Antiques Show, this event is sure to bring together the island’s very best eyes for design. The day will also offer the opportunity to meet Bunny Williams during a book signing of An Affair with a House. Attendees will enjoy a presentation by Bunny Williams on her signature style titled “Bunny Williams’ Point of View” and participate in a Q&A with the designer. The live auction by Rafael Osona will feature enchanting and exceptional items, including Trianon Seaman Schepps earrings, a genuine Jose Reyes Lightship Basket and a July 4th Rooftop Party at the NHA, to name just a few. Thursday July 12, Quaker Meeting House at 7 p.m.:
The NHA welcomes Nantucket Community Music Center (NCMC) guest musicians and Baroque violinists Malgorzata Ziemnick and Judson Griffin along with NCMC’s Mollie Glazer. Instruments of the Baroque period, including Baroque violins, viola da gamba, cello and harpsichord will fill the Quaker Meeting House in celebration of one of the richest and most diverse periods of music. Sunday July 15, Whaling Museum at 7 p.m.:
The NHA proudly unveils a stunning new acquisition: a 1925 Steinway contributed by Barbara Burhorn Van Suetendael and Bobbie Van Suetendael Helbig. In celebration of this gift, please join the NHA as the experts behind the piano’s restoration, Anne and Christopher Acker of PianoGrands, delight the audience with piano restoration tales and historic music. Doors open at 6:45 p.m.; the program begins at 7 p.m. For just a $5 donation, this is an event not to be missed!
